Getting started
Do I need to install anything?
No, not for anything reachable from the internet. Create an account and Onagre's public agents check your websites, APIs, DNS, ports and certificates. You install an agent only to monitor resources inside a private network.
What can Onagre monitor?
Websites and APIs (status, content, JSON and XML values), hosts and ports, DNS resolution, TLS certificates, SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle), Redis, RabbitMQ dead-letter queues, file checksums, scheduled jobs through heartbeats, and the servers running an agent.
Who is Onagre for?
Developers, operations and product teams who want to know their applications work, without running a monitoring stack. Onagre watches applications, not infrastructure for its own sake.
Monitoring and agents
How often are checks run?
Each sensor has its own schedule. The shortest interval is 5 minutes on the Free plan and 1 minute on paid plans. Daily and weekly schedules are also available.
How do private agents connect?
A private agent opens a single outbound connection to the Onagre Hub over TLS and keeps it open. No inbound port and no VPN are needed. It runs on Linux (x64, ARM64), Windows (x64, x86) and Docker.
What is the difference between Core and Advanced agents?
Core agents report the metrics of the server they run on (CPU, memory, disk, uptime, load). Advanced agents do the same and can also run every sensor type from inside your network, plus network discovery. Advanced agents require an Enterprise plan.
Incidents and alerts
When is an incident opened?
When a check does not meet the conditions you set. The incident records the error, its severity and every notification sent, and it ends when the sensor recovers. Your team can acknowledge it and comment on it.
Which notification channels are supported?
Email to team members, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, webhooks, Pushover, Gotify and the Onagre Android app. Email, Slack and Discord are available on every plan; Teams, Google Chat, webhooks, Pushover and Gotify with paid plans.
Can I avoid alerts during planned work?
Yes. Schedule a maintenance window for the whole organization or for selected agents: their checks are paused until the window ends.
Security and hosting
Where is Onagre hosted?
In France, on Scaleway infrastructure in Paris.
How are database passwords and API keys protected?
They are stored as secrets, encrypted with AES-GCM 256 using a key specific to your organization. The Hub decrypts a secret only in memory, to send it with the check that needs it. A saved secret value is never shown again.
Can other organizations see my data?
No. All data belongs to an organization, and access across organizations is forbidden.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 10 sensors with no time limit and no credit card: HTTP, keyword, JSON and XML checks every 5 minutes, alerts by email, Slack and Discord.
Can I change plans?
From the Free plan, you can subscribe to a Pro plan yourself, at any time. For an existing paid subscription, contact support to upgrade. Payments are handled by Stripe.
